We all know how much the healthcare industry has been working towards combatting this virus. They tirelessly put their lives on the line every day and are front-liners in the fight against this deadly pandemic. Various countries have shown their appreciation in many ways, and so have famous people around the world. Celebrities have posted a plethora of videos with all the different ways they hope to commend the relentless efforts. While the UAE has always supported its healthcare workers, the country is now taking it a step forward.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai granted 10-year Golden Visa for 212 doctors working with the Dubai Health Authority. The initiative is an effort to appreciate and express gratitude towards the healthcare workers in the country.

What Is The Golden Visa?

The UAE is not a country that typically grants long term visas to its residents. However, the novel idea of Golden Visa was introduced early last year. These are long term visas that are available to specific individuals within the UAE. Here’s a list of who is eligible for the 10-year Golden Visa.

  1. Investors
  2. Entrepreneurs
  3. Professional talents
  4. Researchers in various fields of science and knowledge
  5. Outstanding students

And now, adding to this list are the 212 special DHA doctors combatting Covid 19. Earlier in March, Sheikh Mohammed had launched an online campaign to commend the voluntary efforts of the healthcare industry. He personally gave a thank you to all those who are risking their lives for the safety of others.

What Else?

In other Covid 19 news, the Dubai Health Authority has opened up three new clinics for donations of plasma. Recent research into cures for the Coronavirus has shown the effectiveness of recovered patient’s plasma. Known as convalescent plasma, there is now a high need for it in order to find a cure. The DHA has mentioned that with the use of convalescent plasma, recoveries can take place 85 to 90 percent faster. People can donate their plasma at any of the 3 clinics designated by the Dubai Health Authority.

How Does It Work?

Those who had the disease and then recovered created the right antibodies to successfully fight off the virus. The plasma of the recovered individuals will still contain these antibodies, and they can then be transferred to other patients suffering from the virus. This can help boost their immune systems, and increase the speed of recovery. People can donate plasma, and each individual can help save up to two lives!
