Shirdi Airport

Shirdi is one of the most visited devotional destinations in India. The former home of the revered Sai Baba, it’s a major pilgrimage site that beckons pilgrims from across India and the world. It’s estimated that every day Shirdi welcomes between 70,000 to 75,000 visitors. So, in order to improve air connectivity to the destination, Shirdi airport is all set to get a new swanky terminal with a capacity of 1200 passengers per hour.

Shirdi Airport To Welcome Devotees With New Terminal

According to a report by Times Of India, the Maharashtra Airports Development Company Limited (MADC) will establish a new integrated terminal building at the Shirdi International Airport. This airport is known to be the fourth busiest in Maharashtra after airports in Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur. Currently, Shirdi airport can just handle 300 passengers at a time despite getting thousands of them every day.

Most of the passengers are travelling to Shirdi to visit the Sai Baba temple. But the airport is unable to accommodate the growing number of visitors to Shirdi. Passengers have also complained that the food and beverage stalls in the airport are insufficient to meet their needs. So, this is the reason Shirdi airport will get a swanky new terminal built at ₹527 crores, accommodating 1200 passengers per hour.
