Shivamogga Airport: Not Aug 11, Flights Will Start Operations On This Date In August

Karnataka’s newest Shivamogga Airport sees a change in its opening. According to the previous plans, the airport was supposed to start operating on 11 August 2023. But now, the date sees a delay and change. Instead, the first flight is going to land at this Karnataka airport later in the month of August. Recently, the Minister of Infrastructure Development of Karnataka has shared necessary details on the same.

Shivamogga Airport To Begin Operations On 31 August

M. B. Patil stated that the first flight will not land at the airport on 11 August, instead, the date has now shifted to 31 August. He also shared in the statement that the date is changed because of some technicalities, according to a report by India Today. An IndiGo flight is about to land here from the Bengaluru airport. Flight bookings for the first landing at the Shivamogga airport have begun already.

More Airlines Are Also Ready To Operate Here

IndiGo is initiating flight operations on the inaugural day of the Shivamogga airport. Along with this airline, three others are also going to provide regular services from this domestic airport in Karnataka.

Under the Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik scheme, Spice Jet, Star Airlines, and Alliance Airlines got permission to initiate flight services at the Shivamogga airport as they took part in the tender. The Karnataka Infrastructure Development Minister shared that these airlines have permission to start flights to Tirupati, Goa, and Hyderabad.

As of now, IndiGo is starting flights. Once, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation shows a green signal to the other airlines, they are also going to initiate flight services.

As of now, all the airlines are going to operate services only during the day for the initial three months. At the present moment, the development of nighttime services is undergoing. The construction for flights landing during the night is going to come to an end soon.
