Karnataka’s Shivamogga Gets A Lotus-Shaped Airport! PM Modi Inaugurated It With Other Water & Road Projects

For any nation, connectivity is an important aspect that can help the residents to travel. And Prime Minister Narendra Modi is trying to establish and develop a stable network of airports, roads and railways. The home place of Bharatiya Janata Party Karnataka’s strong man and the former chief minister B.S. Yediyurappa, Shivamogga, has got an airport. The inauguration of this lotus-shaped airport terminal by Prime Minister Narendra Modi coincided with his (BS Yediyurappa) birthday. Here are the details of the inauguration of the airport.

Shivamogga Airport Inauguration

This new airport is a lotus-shaped architecture that can handle three hundred passengers per hour. The airport is also said to improve travel and connectivity between Shivamogga and its neighbouring areas. The entire project cost ₹450 crores. The airport is also called Kuvempu Airport and it will be used for domestic purposes only. Also, this project was built under the PPP (Public Private Partnership). Though the project was started in April 2011, it was stopped due to differences between the partners of the contractor. But in 2020, the former chief minister of Karnataka BS Yediyurappa relaunched the project.

Prime Minister On The New Projects

PM Modi commenced the inauguration event by praising the land of the great poet Kuvempu. He further said that he is delighted to be honoured to inaugurate projects worth crores in Karnataka. He also said that today Shivamogga has got its own airport which was demanded for a long time. The airport is grand, beautiful and a blend of Karnataka’s tradition and technology. He also said that this new airport is a way to fulfil dreams for the youngsters of Shivamogga.

He stated that other road, railway and water projects will be started in addition to the airport inauguration. He further stated the importance of the inauguration day saying that it is the birthday of BS Yediyurappa. He prayed for his long life and praised his work for farmers and the common man of Karnataka.

He also spoke about his dream of ‘Make In India’ and said that one day Indians will travel the world in aircraft that will be made in India. He stated that there is a lot of scope in the aviation sector.
