India Has 66 Airports Under Development; Eyes 115 Airlines Across 55 Countries For Connectivity

In the past few years, air travel has increased a lot, with more travellers planning work and holiday trips. Understanding the growing demand, the government is constantly working on increasing the number of airports, improving connectivity and adding more flight options. How Many Airports In India Are Under Development?

Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu revealed that 66 airports in India are currently under development. According to The Economic Times, Ram Mohan Naidu spoke about these plans during a small event held before the main Routes Asia 2027 event. The main event will take place in Delhi from March 16 to 18, 2027. 

He also said that to improve air connectivity, they are aiming to connect with 115 airlines across 55 countries. With this event, the government plans to connect with airlines and countries from across the world. The aviation sector aims to enhance regional and international flight connections.

Third-Largest Domestic Aviation Market

The Economic Times reported that according to Ram Mohan Naidu, India has now become the third-largest domestic aviation market. Now, the government is aiming to make India the third-largest aviation market globally.

Better air connectivity will play a crucial role in boosting trade, tourism and overall economic activity between countries. It will also help the country make the best use of its free trade agreements. And no, these are not just plans that authorities will work on in the future. India is already making moves, as 55 international routes have already been started in the last 15 months.
