Sikkim: 3 Killed & 20 Injured After A Milk Truck Rammed Into Ranipool Mela

In a terrible turn of events, a milk truck lost control and rammed into a crowded mela in Sikkim’s Ranipool area on February 10. The horrific incident ended up killing 3 people and left around 20 severely injured. The state government has announced an ex-gratia of ₹5 lakh for the family of the deceased. The incident has left the entire country in shock as the people were enjoying a local fair when this horrific accident happened.

How The Horrific Incident Unfolded In Sikkim’s Ranipool

At around 7.30 PM on Saturday evening, a Tambola program was going on at a local mela in Ranipool, Sikkim. Sadly, the happy moment turned into a tragedy when a speeding milk truck lost control and ploughed into the mela ground and ended up killing 3 people and severely injuring around 20. The entire accident was captured in a CCTV video at the venue. The milk truck was seen ramming into three parked cars at the fair. People shared images on X (formerly Twitter) of the aftermath of the accident and the damage is quite bone-chilling.

CM Prem Singh Tamang Expresses Sadness Over The Tragic Incident

The Chief Minister of Sikkim, Prem Singh Tamang-Golay expressed his deep sadness on the incident in Ranipool. He reassured the public that an investigation of this entire ordeal was underway. Furthermore, the state government would cover the medical expenses of the injured party. The Sikkim government has also announced an ex-gratia of ₹5 lakh for the family of the deceased.
