Biryani is not just a dish for Indians, it’s an emotion. There are as many variations of biryani in India as there are people. To commemorate this dish and its worldwide popularity, July 7 is observed as World Biryani Day. The High Commissioner of Singapore to India recently shared a video of him cooking biryani for the very first time. Understandably, Indians were quite impressed with his first attempt and praised him for it.

H C Wong, the high commissioner of Singapore to India, took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share a video of him making a biryani. In order to commemorate World Biryani Day, the diplomat is seen stirring a pot of freshly cooked biryani.

He seems to be intoxicated by the scent of the spices and said that he hopes it tastes good. In the caption of the video, he specified that it was his first attempt at making biryani. He also wished everyone a happy world biryani day.

The diplomat ended the caption by asking which state has the best biryani. He will plan a visit there just to taste it. Of course, this incited many responses as India is chock full of tasty biryani variations.

Many people responded to his question and among the most popular replies was Kolkata Biryani. Many claimed that the addition of boiled egg and potato made this biryani unlike any other. Some claimed that Hyderabadi biryani was the best.

Yet others said that Chennai’s Chettinad biryani was the best as it was a confluence of all kinds of biryani. Lucknow biryani was another popular contender for this tasty competition.

Many people also admired how amazing the Singaporean diplomat’s first attempt at biryani was. They congratulated him on it and said that the biryani looked delicious.
