Here’s news for people planning to travel to the US. As per a report in Business Today, the Trump administration is reportedly charging a $1,000 fee, plus a $185 (₹15,865 approx) non-refundable charge, for tourists and other non-immigrant visa applicants who want to skip the never-ending interview queue and get a faster interview.

This proposed rule will apply to the B1 and B2 visa categories, which cover business and tourist travel. The main aim of this high fee is to cut down on the long-standing interview wait times, a common issue faced by those wanting to visit the country. However, this new option may only help those who can afford the high $1,000 cost.

Applicable To B1 And B2 Categories

As per BT, the premium service may benefit premium applicants, but could also cause issues like visa backlogs and potential legal challenges. The report states that this rule is still under discussion but could roll out by December. A memo dated May 17, drafted by Trump campaign policy advisors, states that it will apply only to B1 visas for business and B2 visas for tourism. However, the eligibility criteria and application process will not change.
