The news broke out from the Solapur district in Maharashtra, making it the state’s first probable death due to this disease. He might have contracted it during his recent visit to his native village. Solapur Reported Maharashtra’s First Suspected Death Due To Guillain-Barre Syndrome
Guillain-Barre Syndrome, a rare immunological nerve disorder, is making the headlines for a sudden rise in positive cases in parts of Maharashtra. Following the unfortunate updates on the suspected demise due to the disease, people are getting concerned. According to a report by The Hindu, this man suffered from multiple symptoms such as cold and cough, breathing issues, and paralysis in his limbs.
On January 18, the 40-year-old patient was admitted to a private hospital in Solapur for doctor consultation and treatment. Though his health conditions began to improve and he was kept in a regular room after ICU, he faced serious concerns again. Soon, he was rushed to the ICU due to breathing problems. He took his last breath in the ICU.
The deceased body was sent for post-mortem. Its preliminary report stated that it might have been a suspected case of Guillain-Barre Syndrome. Dr. Sanjeev Thakur, Dean of Government Medical College in Solapur, stated that the man’s clinical history indicated similarities with this nerve disorder. To know the reason causing the death, microbiological and histopathology reports will be needed. Cerebrospinal fluid and blood samples have been taken to conduct a polymerase chain reaction. Necessary details will be known after five to six days.

Pune has reported more than 100 Guillain-Barre Syndrome cases already. Maharashtra’s health department shared key updates about present conditions in Pune. On Sunday, the city crossed the mark of 100 cases. A total of 68 males and 33 females suffer from the nerve disorder.
A 7-member high-level expert team of the central government has been deployed in Maharashtra. This news comes after the recent suspected death.
