Report Shows Delhi Saw A Marginal Decline In Road Accident Fatalities
Delhi saw a 0.5% reduction in road accident deaths in 2023, a report shared by Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora revealed. According to NDTV, the annual report revealed data and analysis of the accidents that occurred last year in Delhi. It also revealed causes, patterns, and suggestions in road design, regulation and prosecution.
Reportedly, the number of road accidents in Delhi increased from 5,652 in 2022 to 5,834 in 2023. The number of accidents was 4,720 in 2021. The data further showed that the number of deaths due to road accidents in 2023 saw a 0.5% dip and went from 1,461 in 2022 to 1,457 in 2023.
The authorities believe that the report will aid the Delhi Police in outlining a road safety action plan to reduce road accidents in the city. They will also work together with other departments to improve education, engineering, enforcement, and emergency care. They hope to design an infrastructure that will help them reduce the chances of crashes and, in turn, reduce fatalities in such cases.
