As the UAE holidays have already begun for Eid al-Adha, many residents plan to travel abroad, especially to nearby countries for a short getaway during the long weekend. As a result, several people also plan to travel to Georgia. However, due to the strict Visa regulations for people of specific nationalities, some residents were denied entry into the country. Take a look.
Georgia Denies Entry To Some UAE Residents
As revealed by Khaleej Times, some UAE residents of specific nationalities were denied entry into Georgia due to restrictive visa regulations. This comes after amendments were introduced on April 17, 2025. As a result, residents of specific countries, such as Pakistan and Bangladesh, who even held a valid visa or a resident permit from the Gulf Cooperation Council, were impacted.
This Happens Amid Visa Rules Update By The Country
As revealed in the same report, some people who had just landed at the Kutaisi International Airport for their Eid al-Adha holidays were taken completely off guard. Although they had all the required documents, like hotel bookings and return tickets, some were stopped before boarding. And while they were cleared to fly, later, when they did land at the airport in Georgia, their entry was rejected.
List Of Affected Countries
Many people felt that this was insulting, and they were quite unhappy with the overall handling of the situation. As a result, it is important to take note of the fact that just because a person is a resident of the Gulf, it no longer grants them visa-free access. Although under the previous resolution, people of even certain countries could enter Georgia if they had a valid residency permit for a GCC nation, this has now changed. In case you’re thinking about the affected countries, they are as follows:
- Pakistan
- Afghanistan
- Bangladesh
- Ghana
- Ethiopia
- Eritrea
- Yemen
- Cameroon
- Côte d’Ivoire
- Democratic Republic of Congo
- Morocco
- Nigeria
- Somalia
- Syria
- Sudan
- Tanzania
- Uganda

Keep This In Mind
So if you are also planning a trip to Georgia in the coming months, you might want to keep this update in mind. After all, the country’s updated rules mention that people can qualify to get visa-free entry if they have a minimum one-year validity of their Gulf-issued visa permit. In fact, just because a person holds a short-term visa or residence visa from a GCC nation, they will no longer be granted a visa-free entry to the country.
