In a heartwarming Facebook post, singer Sonu Nigam offered a glimpse into a truly unique birthday celebration for his sister Meenal. Turning 50 wasn’t just about cake and candles for Meenal; it became a spiritual odyssey to the revered Hindu shrines of Kedarnath Dham and Badrinath Dham.

But the festivities extended beyond Meenal. The trip, Nigam reveals, became a joint celebration of three turning 50. “Technically it’s a 50th year for all 3 of us,” he writes, hinting at a special bond with his childhood friend Kailash Chandani, who had also reached the milestone birthday in February.

The connections go even further back.  Nigam’s post takes a nostalgic turn as he reminisces about their school days. “We met for the first time in 9th standard in J D Tytler School in 1987,” he writes, referring to himself, Chandani, and his brother-in-law Sumit Mahendroo. Meenal joined the group the following year, solidifying their bond as a foursome with a shared educational background.

The pilgrimage wasn’t without its emotional moments. Nigam shares that Meenal, known affectionately as “Mini,” was moved to tears upon reaching Kedarnath. He himself confesses to shedding a tear in Badrinath, overwhelmed by the unexpected ease of their pilgrimage despite the unpredictable mountain weather.

Gratitude is a recurring theme in Nigam’s post. He expresses his heartfelt appreciation to the administrations of both Kedarnath and Badrinath Dham, along with the police, for their support and assistance in ensuring a smooth journey. He also extends his thanks to his “brothers” Manoj Tyagi and Kumar Vishwas, though the specific nature of their connection remains undisclosed.
