Soon, Gujarat’s Gosabara-Mokarsagar Wetland Will Be Turned Into A Sustainable Eco-Tourism Site

Gosabara-Mokarsagar

If you have been to Gujarat, you must have seen the coastal city of Porbandar. It is not one of the most often visited cities in Gujarat. The city is planning to turn the Gosabara-Mokarsagar wetland into a sustainable eco-tourism site. In terms of wildlife and nature, this wetland is considered to be one of the most successfully growing sites in Porbandar.

Gujarat’s Gosabara-Mokarsagar Wetland

Porbandar is a historical port of India and is situated in the Arabian Sea. The city is famous for various reasons, one of them being the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi. It will soon be known for being a dedicated eco-tourism site.

The Gujarat state government is planning to develop Gosabara-Mokarsagar wetland in order to bring the flow of tourists. They believe that this will help them to control and check the saline level in the water. It will also create and improve the habitats for both the migratory and resident birds here.

Keeping a check on the salinity level of the water will help people as well. This is because checking this can help understand the availability of water suitable for irrigation. The aim of the state government is to bring it up as a sustainable eco-tourism site.

It Has A Collection Of Marshes

The beautiful Gosabara-Mokarsagar wetland is spread across approximately 90 square metres. It is home to over 186 species of migratory and resident birds. The project’s objectives include creating a wetland interpretation zone, guesthouses, restaurants, parking lots, watchtowers, and nature paths.

The Mokarsagar wetland complex is not a singular location, but rather a collection of marshes that includes places like Kuchhadi, Subhash Nagar, Zavar, Kurly I, Kurly II, Vanana, Dharampur, Gosabara, Mokarsagar, and Amipur. When it comes to wildlife and wetland locations in India, it is undoubtedly one of the underdogs, but that may soon change. (as per reported by Times Travel)
