Travelling on Mumbai locals is not an easy thing to do. Amid the intense crowd and massive bustle, lakhs of passengers commute on these local trains, wrapped in sweat and noise. The grand news is that the Ministry of Railways has provided the approval for upgrading the locals by launching Vande metro trains in the City of Dreams. These premium AC train services will be a huge relief for every commuter.
Mumbai Locals Will Be Upgraded To Brand-New Vande Metro Trains
This is indeed an iconic decision taken by the Ministry of Railways for Mumbai. The decision to upgrade the local trains in the city and procurement of these metro trains was approved on 19 May 2023. A total of 238 Vande metro trains will be running in Mumbai soon. The procurement of these new metro trains is coming under the Mumbai Urban Transport Project-III (MUTP-III) and 3A (MUTP-3A), according to a report by Republic World. The Railway Ministry and the Maharashtra government are looking over this project.
“Make In India” Guidelines Will be Followed While Working On Manufacturing These Vande Metro Trains
Mumbai locals will be upgraded to Vande metro trains soon and the development project of the manufacturing process will be taken care of by the technology partner. They will work on the upgraded trains in their factories themselves. The most important point to note here is that the development process will be following all the Make in India guidelines. The Republic World report also states how a spokesperson of Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation shared that MRVC will be taking up the procurement of these trains.
At the moment, there are 14 AC local trains running in the city, according to a report by Times Now. The population in Mumbai is only increasing every year. With this, the crowd in the trains is also seeing a rise. It is a difficult journey to travel on the Mumbai locals in the summer season. At such times, AC local trains are a huge relief for the passengers.
Mumbaikars, are you excited to travel on the new Vande metro trains? We cannot wait to travel on these trains.
