It’s time to get down and dirty! The Spartan race is coming to Sharjah desert on February 15 and there’s something for everyone in the family.
What’s It?
It will be a day of high energy, fun and healthy competition, as racers compete for the 2019 Spartan Middle East & Africa Championship. Spartans from across the region will run, crawl, jump and climb across the open terrains and rugged landscapes of the Mleiha desert in Sharjah on 15 February. So, whether you are a beginner, an elite racer, or prefer being a spectator, you definitely must not miss this one!
Who Can Participate?
While the Elite and Age Group Championship Beast races are only open to qualified racers, anyone can register for the Open Beast and Sprint heats. So, register now!
Races
There are 3 types of races: Spartan Sprint, Spartan Beast and Spartan Kids. The Spartan Beast is the toughest of the lot, testing your endurance, grit and determination. And it’s not called beast for nothing. Stretching across 20+km with over 30 obstacles, this one’s not for the faint hearted. Tickets are priced at $145.
The Spartan Sprint is for everyone- whether you are a beginner or an athlete. With 20 obstacles spread across 5+ km, this one is very doable. So, go for it! Tickets are available at $108. Lastly, the Spartan Kids is for the little racers between 4-14 years. The race covers 3.2km and has 8-15 obstacles. Tickets are priced at $108.
The latest addition is the Competition Wave for kids between 10-13 years of age. The race encourages kids to to jump, run, get muddy, help each other and have a good time while conquering obstacles. Tickets are priced at $45 and $55 for the Competition Wave.
If you prefer to be a spectator, entry is priced at AED 20 for adults and free for children under 12.
What Are The Obstacles?
The obstacles include carrying heavy borders, burpees, filling a bucket of rocks and carrying it, jumping fire and more.
What To Bring
- Your ID
- Towel & extra (dry) clothes
- Water and more as well as bars and gels if you think you need it during the course (Camelbacks are allowed)
- Registration Waiver
What To Wear
You will be running, climbing and jumping, so performance gear (non-cotton) is the best bet. Also, do not wear new shoes on the day of the race.

What Else?
There are shower areas to get rid of all the mud and dirt after the race is over. You can also access your photos and videos on their website by keying in your bib number.
