A shameful incident took place on the SpiceJet flight from Delhi to Mumbai. A passenger secretly clicked obscene photos and recorded a video of the air hostess, which was later circulated on social media. The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has taken notice of this issue.

The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has issued notifications about alleged sexual harassment by a passenger on a flight from Delhi to Mumbai on Wednesday after taking notice of a video becoming viral on social media. The guy allegedly attempted to take obscene pictures of a female flight attendant and another passenger.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation and the Delhi Police have received notices, DCW chief Swati Maliwal announced on X (previously Twitter). The Delhi Commission for Women has taken suo-moto cognizance of a video that is doing the rounds on the social media site, Instagram, alleging sexual harassment by a passenger. On August 16, 2023, Spicejet Flight 157 was travelling from Delhi to Mumbai when this incident is said to have happened.

According to the viral footage, a passenger attempted to take lewd photos of his female companion and a female flight attendant. According to reports, his mobile phone included offensive images of the women travelling on the plane when it was searched.

DCW Has Issued Notice To DGCA And Police

In the notice written to the Delhi Police, the DCW has asked for a copy of the FIR lodged in the case, details regarding the individuals who have been caught, and a complete action-taken report. The police should provide justifications, the commission ruled, if the accused had not been taken into custody.

The Internal Complaint Committee under the Sexual Harassment at Workplace Act or any other committee, may have been notified of the occurrence. The DGCA has been requested to provide specifics regarding the action taken against the passenger. Additionally, the DCW has stated that reasons for committing such acts should be given.

In January, two passengers were de-boarded from a SpiceJet flight from Delhi to Hyderabad at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport after one of them allegedly made inappropriate physical contact with a flight attendant and engaged in “unruly behaviour” prior to takeoff.

The man and his companion were subsequently turned over to an airport security crew, and the Delhi Police soon opened an investigation.
