The second wave had hit India adversely, but now states across the nation are finally bringing the cases under lockdown. Various states have also started easing the lockdown restrictions. Here are some states that have announced certain relaxations and are unlocking after the dip in virus cases:
1. Delhi
The process of lifting the lockdown gradually in Delhi started from May 31 with the resumption of construction activities and the reopening of factories. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal announced that Delhi Metro will operate with 50% capacity from June 7. Markets and malls will operate on an odd-even basis. Also, private offices can operate with 50% staff. The Delhi government permitted home delivery of Indian and foreign liquor but only for orders placed through the website or mobile application.

2.Maharashtra
The Maharashtra government is now planning a five-step unlock plan from June 7. The unlock in the state will happen in five levels based on positivity rate and oxygen bed occupancies. In the first level, districts with less than a 5% positivity rate and below 25% oxygen bed occupancy will be allowed to unlock fully without restrictions. 18 districts come under level 1. All restaurants, malls, salons, movie theatres, shops can open in districts these districts.
The third level is for districts with 5% to 10% positivity rate and oxygen bed occupancy of over 40%. Since Mumbai falls in this category, essential goods shops will remain open till 4pm on all days. Gyms, salons, spas, gymnasiums can operate in 50% capacity only till 4pm pm. Restaurants will remain open only till 4pm only on weekdays after which they will be permitted to facilitate for takeaway only. Parks and gardens will remain open from 5am to 9am.
3. Uttar Pradesh
The UP government lifted the corona curfew from all districts on June 6 except three with over 600 active COVID-19 cases. The night curfew and weekend curfew will continue to remain. ACS Information Navneet Sehgal said, “Uttar Pradesh lifts COVID-imposed curfew from all districts barring Meerut, Saharanpur and Gorakhpur as active cases in these three districts are above 600.”
4. West Bengal
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced on June 3, 2021, that restaurants in the state can start operating between 5 PM and 8 PM amid the COVID-19 lockdown. However, to start operations, all the restaurant staff need to be vaccinated and the restaurants must also follow the COVID-19 protocols. Additionally, retail shops are allowed to operate from noon to 3 PM. Construction activities were allowed after vaccinating the workers. The current lockdown is imposed till June 15.

Lockdown Extensions
- Arunachal Pradesh has put complete lockdown in Anjaw, Dibang Valley, Lower Subansiri, Lohit and Tawang districts and the Capital Complex Region till June 7.
- Meghalaya extended lockdown in the East Khasi Hills district till June 7.
- Pondicherry will remain under lockdown till June 7.
- Rajasthan and Bihar have extended lockdown till June 8.
- Kerala and Telegana have extended lockdown till June 9.
- Punjab, Jharkhand, Lakshadweep, Tripura and Andhra Pradesh have extended lockdown till June 10.
- Nagaland will remain under lockdown till June 11.
- Manipur has imposed lockdown in 7 districts, namely Bishnupur, Ukhrul, Churachandpur, Kakching, Imphal West, Imphal East and Thoubal till June 11.
- Haryana, Himachal, Goa, Sikkim and Tamil Nadu have extended lockdown till June 14 with some restrictions.
