Since Wednesday, June 19th, parking rules in Abu Dhabi have been tightened. Yes, those found violating these rules in the city will now be at the risk of having their vehicles towed away by the authorities. As a result, stricter curbs have come into force and we are here to tell you about them.
All About The Mawaqif Parking System
Department of Municipality and Transport, which is represented by the Abu Dhabi Mobility has announced a vehicle towing service. Following stricter curbs coming into force, the launch of this service means that vehicles in Al Ain will be towed on the basis of the violation they have committed. For instance, vehicles, if found without license plates in the parking area will be towed immediately. They will be towed to Mawaqif Vehicle Impounding Yard in the Al Ain industrial area. Not to mention, these vehicles can also be towed, if they are on display for sale, or used for commercial advertising or promotional purposes. Additionally, if they occupy a parking space without a permit or with an expired permit, they are liable to be towed.

Not Following The Rules Can Get Your Car, Towed
At this point, it’s worth noting that the vehicle towing service is meant to enforce the Mawaqif Regulation Law. In case you’re wondering, it aims to regulate public parking usage and also improve traffic flow in the city. Not to mention, according to a report by Khaleej Times, Abu Dhabi Mobility has asked the people in the city to comply with the Mawaqif Parking system in order to avoid the towing of the vehicles and subsequent fines. There is a stress on the importance of following these regulations for the management and organisation of public parking at all times.
In fact, they also urge the public to park correctly and in the designated areas, thereby avoiding parking in prohibited zones. They have also been asked to maintain smooth traffic flow to ensure the community’s safety and security.
As such, the Abu Dhabi Mobility teams are also conducting educational workshops that aim to raise public awareness regarding the parking management system.
