Recently, Dr Sultan Al Neyadi who completed the six-month mission at the International Space Station, took to his Instagram account to post about how he and Hazzaa AlMansoori were the guest of honour onboard Emirates. Featuring a livery, showing an astronaut on the A380 aircraft, the astronauts took this one-off special flight to take a journey of the seventh emirates of the UAE.

Emirates collaborated with Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre to celebrate the visionary national space initiative of the United Arab Emirates through a one-off flight. Yes, national heroes, Dr Sultan Al Neyadi and Hazzaa AlMansoori, the guest of honour on board. In case you don’t remember, the former spent six months at the ISS while the latter is the first Emirati astronaut to visit space. It’s worth mentioning that the team of MBRSC played a key role in fostering a strong and diverse space sector by developing its capabilities. This was also revealed through a sweet Instagram reel that was shared by Sultan Al Neyadi on his official account on the social media platform. It also showcases the Emirates A380 aircraft, which had been emblazoned with a specially designed astronaut decal.

So, celebrating the nation’s vision to build its capabilities in space exploration and aerospace innovation on the global stage, the flight was commanded by Captain Abdalla Abdelrahman Al Hammadi and First Officer Alex Van Der Veer. The flight EK2641 took off from Dubai International Airport at 12 PM, after which it cruised over the seven Emirates.

At this point, it should be mentioned that the crew members of Expedition 69 had all joined the guests of honour along with the Director General of MBRSC, Salem Humaid AlMarri, Emirates’ Chief Operating Officer, Adel Al Redha, and about 200 employees from MBRSC.

The Two Astronauts Visited The Emirates Headquarters

During this, the two astronauts had also visited the headquarters of the airline and were welcomed by the President of the airline, Sir Tim Clark and Chief Operating Officer Adel Al Redha. A momentous occasion indeed, this flight took off just ahead of the 52nd National Day that UAE celebrates this weekend. Honouring the milestone achieved by these two astronauts in space, it certainly seems to be quite a heartwarming gesture.

As it happens, this was also shared on the official handle of the Emirates where one can catch glimpses of the astronauts enjoying this one-off special flight experience. Not to mention, it also showcased them interacting with many people and truly partaking in this experience.
