Summer Arrives Early! Bengaluru Peaks At 32.8°; IMD Warns Of Intense Heat Strokes & Shares Safety Tips

Just a few days back, we were enjoying the cool air of winter, and how we have to get ready for the hot air of summer. This year, summer has decided to arrive early in Karnataka, and the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned residents to stay prepared. Bengaluru and other parts are already experiencing hot weather. Scroll down to know more!

Bengaluru Experiences Hot Weather

According to IMD, temperatures are expected to stay higher than normal from March to May 2026. According to News18, even before summer officially starts, Bengaluru and nearby areas are already feeling the hot weather. February, which is usually cooler, has also felt warmer this year. Since February 21, Bengaluru has been recording temperatures above 30°C.

The hottest day was February 23, when the temperature touched 32.8°C. Other days were also pretty warm, 32.4°C on February 22, 31.1°C on February 24, and 31.6°C on February 25. Looks like summer is coming early this year, so people should start preparing for hotter days ahead.

What Does The IMD Forecast Say?

IMD is saying that most parts of Karnataka may feel higher-than-normal temperatures this summer. Too much heat can cause health problems like dehydration, heat exhaustion, and heatstroke.

So, what can you do to stay safe? As per News18, start with water, drink it regularly. Wear light-coloured, loose cotton clothes because they help your body breathe and stay cool. When you go out, carry sunglasses, use an umbrella, or wear a hat as protection from direct sunlight. Also, try to avoid heavy work or outdoor activities at noon, since the sun is strongest during this time.

While travelling, keep a water bottle with you. Try to avoid drinks like alcohol, coffee, tea, and cold drinks. Always, eat fresh home-cooked meals and add water-rich fruits and vegetables to your diet. Green vegetables and natural cooling drinks like lemon water or buttermilk can help keep your body balanced. Also, never leave children or pets inside parked cars because the temperature inside can rise very quickly and become dangerous.

So, this summer, make sure you follow these necessary instructions and stay safe!
