Hey, Curly Tales fans! We’re back with another exciting episode of Sunday Brunch. This time, our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, visited the famous Dhurandhar’s Aalam Bhai, aka Gaurav Gera. While enjoying the delicious Punjabi meal he cooked himself, we chatted about everything, from his career and struggles to his journey. Read on to know more!

Gaurav Gera Opens Up About Life & Work On Sunday Brunch

In the Sunday Brunch episode, Gaurav Gera welcomed Kamiya Jani to his Mumbai home in Oshiwara. He gave a quick tour of his minimal, cosy home with soft, calming colours. Gaurav shared that he’s been in Mumbai since late 1998 and has lived in Andheri all this while, so he’s very familiar with the area.

During the chat, Aalam made tea, and while sipping it, he revealed how Dhurandhar changed his career. The role helped him break away from only doing comedy characters. He also shared that director Aditya Dhar asked him to try a bearded look for the role, which was finally kept. Gaurav even had fun mimicking some iconic dialogues from Dhurandhar, showing how different characters would say the same lines.

How To Make Doodh Soda?

After a tea break, Gaurav made us his special doodh soda. While preparing it, he also said his famous dialogue, “Darling, darling, dil kyun toda? Peelo peelo, Aalam Doodh Soda!” He poured some milk into a glass and added Thums Up. He shared that he used to drink this as a child and mentioned you can use any soda of your choice.

The Dhurandhar actor also prepared a Punjabi meal himself, which included Aloo Gobi, Kadhi, and rice. The duo enjoyed it with a little achar, and Gaurav mentioned that they add tadka directly in the bowl.

Talking about his early days in Mumbai, he was very careful with money. In his first two years, he did a lot of dancing before getting his first acting break in 2000. He spoke about the ups and downs of the movie industry, saying, “Aaj tumhara value hai, kal nahi.” On who earns more, content creators or actors, Gaurav said, “Internet has crazy amount of money.”
