“He Made Me Feel Like A King,” Karan Aujla On Meeting Shah Rukh Khan For The First Time

On this Sunday Brunch episode, our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, met Punjabi music sensation Karan Aujla at AER, the highest sky bar at Four Seasons Hotel Mumbai. The episode was not just about food but also saw Karan opening up about his life like never before. From talking about his parents to trying Mumbai’s street food, it was fun all the way. But that’s not all, Karan also shared a very special memory with Shah Rukh Khan.

Karan Aujla Opens Up About Meeting SRK For The First Time

Over a hearty spread of Vada Pav, Misal Pav, Pav Bhaji and Dahi Bhalle, Karan Aujla spoke about his professional and personal life with our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani. His success has not come easily. Life’s ups and downs have shaped him into the singing sensation, or Geeta Di Machine, as he’s lovingly called today.

While talking about his journey, he revealed that he lost both his parents at a very young age. That led us to ask if he had ever met Shah Rukh Khan, who, just like him, lost both his parents quite early in life before achieving stardom with his hard work. Without missing a beat, Karan replied, “Yes!” He shared that he first met SRK at the IIFA Awards in Abu Dhabi. He added that SRK treated him very well. Karan Aujla further added,  “He made me feel like a king.” Honestly, that’s the kind of memory that stays forever.

What Makes The Punjabi Singer Happy

Taking the conversation to a lighter note, we asked Karan what truly makes him happy. He replied, “Ki agar koi gaana mann se likha hua ho aur woh chal jaaye bohot,” (If a song is written from the heart and it really works), that’s what makes him happiest. Naturally, this led to another question: how many views does it take for him to feel content with a song? He said he expects his song to at least cross 100 million streams; that’s when he feels happiest.

The second thing that makes him happy is staying home and close to the people he loves. He said, “Just being with my own people and in my own space” brings him the most joy. After a special fan interaction segment, he shared about some of his blunders on stage. While he wouldn’t exactly term them as blunders, he did admit to forgetting the lyrics of his songs while performing live, which made us laugh. With that, we wished him the best and wrapped up this Sunday Brunch episode.
