Sunil Chhetri, the Captain of the Indian football team holds the title of the third highest goal scorer among all the active players worldwide, currently. We were honoured to have an exciting Sunday Brunch episode with him and our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani in Bangalore. We got to unveil some of the naughtiest things he had done during his childhood days. So much so, that he warned kids to not watch certain segments of this episode. Nonetheless, we had a great laugh and you should too.
Sunil Chhetri Shared That He Bet Money On Volleyball Games During His School Days
Kamiya asked him about his first paycheck and whether it was through football or any odd jobs here and there. Sunil Chhetri took us by surprise when he revealed that he wasn’t good at anything so there was no chance of odd jobs. But he continued, “I used to bet money on volleyball games in school and that’s why I made a lot of money then!” Bet this was not the answer you were expecting!
He warned kids to not do this and then said that there is no need to think about earning money through sports if you are young. “You play because it’s gonna make you a better human being and a healthier human being,” he said. Then he emphasised that you will make money and at a young age, you don’t have to stress about money. He is right about this, playing the game for yourself and not for money matters.

His Childhood Stories Got Wilder
We were curious about what else naughty behaviour he did during his childhood days. We were in for a ride and now you are as well. He did inform us that he wasn’t quite an easygoing kid and did “borderline bad things”. He informed us that he and a bunch of his friends would visit fields and pull out vegetables. One of them knew the correct time for harvesting carrots and radishes. They would steal, run back to a safe place and enjoy the fresh veggies with a little bit of salt.
