Sunjay Kapur Dies At 53 After Suffering Heart Attack During Polo Match In The UK

Sunjay Kapur, Bollywood star Karisma Kapoor’s ex-husband, has passed away at the age of 53 on June 12. He reportedly suffered a heart attack and collapsed during a polo match in England. He had two kids with Karisma, Samaira, and Kiaan. The news was also confirmed by Suhel Seth, an Indian businessman, on his X (Twitter) account last night. 

Sunjay Kapur Dies At 53

As per a report in Hindustan Times, Karisma Kapoor’s ex-husband Sunjay Kapur, a businessman and industrialist, died at 53 after suffering a heart attack during a polo match. He had two children with Karisma and one with Priya Sachdev, his current wife. Indian businessman and columnist Suhel Seth confirmed his death around 11:04 pm, where he wrote that he was “Deeply saddened at the passing of @sunjaykapur: he passed away earlier today in England: a terrible loss and deepest condolences to his family and his colleagues @sonacomstar …Om Shanti”. According to the report, Sunjay collapsed during a polo match on June 12th in the UK.

Sanjay Kapur’s last X (formerly Twitter) post was shared just a few hours before his death, where he expressed grief over the fatal Air India plane crash, which also happened yesterday. He wrote, “Terrible news of the tragic Air India crash in Ahmedabad. My thoughts and prayers are with all the families affected. May they find strength in this difficult hour.” Not only that, on June 9th, he had posted a quote on his X account which said, “Your time on earth is limited. Leave the ‘what ifs’ to the philosophers and instead dive headfirst into the ‘why nots’”. This post has left many users contemplating the uncertainty of life.

He Was The Chairman Of Sona Comstar

Sunjay Kapur was the chairman of Sona Comstar, an automotive systems manufacturer. He was recently elected as the chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for the northern region, as per HT. He aimed to steer the CII’s initiatives across seven states, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand, as well as three Union Territories, including Chandigarh, Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. In his statement, Sunjay had said this strategy would help drive industrial growth, change policy reforms, promote inclusiveness, strengthen MSMEs and encourage skill development for overall economic progress.

For the uninitiated, Sunjay Kapur was married to Bollywood star Karisma Kapoor. The two tied the knot in 2003 and opted for divorce in June 2016. They shared two children, Samaira and Kiaan. Sunjay later married Priya Sachdev, with whom he had a son. He also co-parented Priya’s daughter, Safira, from her previous marriage.
