If there’s one thing we can all agree on about big superhero movies, it’s that their press tours can sometimes feel longer than the movies themselves. For Rachel Brosnahan, that wasn’t just a scheduling concern; it was rather a matter of bad luck. Turns out, the Superman actress, known for her sharp, quick-witted character of Lois Lane, has a travel curse that few know about.
Superman Star Says She Has A Travel Curse
While promoting the film, Brosnahan casually dropped an anecdote on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that caught fans off guard: she has a travel curse. This self-coined term sums up her personal streak of bad luck involving everything from missed flights to chaotic hotel stays. The Superman actress said that her travel curse brought her ridiculous amounts of stress, as much as was humanly possible to endure.
How Did Superman’s Lois Lane Overcome Her Travel Curse?
She talks about her travel curse further, stating it’s worse than anyone can imagine, and that’s why people don’t often believe her. Except, well, till they see it themselves. Understandably, she was sure she didn’t want to endure the travel curse during the Superman press release tour. And that’s when she resorted to a travel witch, who arrived with a wishing well and a wand!
It’s a quirky story, but somehow, it fits perfectly with Rachel Brosnahan’s offbeat charm. Before stepping into the shoes of the iconic Lois Lane, she made her mark as the trailblazing comedian Midge Maisel in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel—a role that earned her an Emmy. But Superman, which opened to a staggering $217 million globally (as per The Numbers), is an entirely different universe—both literally and figuratively.
Her chemistry with David Corenswet’s Superman has been a major talking point. And if you think this will be her only appearance in the DC Universe, think again. The DCU is in reboot mode under James Gunn, and Lois Lane isn’t just a side character anymore. While Superman 2 hasn’t been officially announced, industry insiders all but expect it. Plus, if Warner Bros. is planning a fresh Justice League down the line, Brosnahan’s Lois would almost definitely be in that, too.
And as far as those future press tours go, Brosnahan shouldn’t risk going without her travel witch next time. Jokes apart, one can call it a travel curse or not, but her hustle sounds real with innumerable interviews, photo ops and global premieres. Even if her flights stay on time, the grind of promoting a franchise like Superman is no small task.
