Have you ever tried to sneak your favourite snacks into the cinema hall? Ever skipped a movie cause the snack prices were too costly? Well, it seems like you will not be able to bring your own snacks anymore. The Supreme Court has passed a verdict to ban outside food from cinema halls. And moviegoers have no choice but to abide by this decision. Here is what the judges at the Supreme Court stated and the judgment passed.
Outside Food Not Allowed In Cinema Halls
In the hearing of the petition of banning outside food, the judges set aside the J&K High Court order to allow people to bring their own food inside the hall. According to Justice PS Narasimha and Justice Dhananjaya Y. Chandrachud, cinema halls are private properties and have the right to set rules. So, while buying the ticket, if the rules say no outside food, then people will have to accept it. On the other hand, they declared that the cinema authorities are to provide free and hygienic drinking water. Also, there should be no restriction on a reasonable amount of food brought by parents for their infants.

Not A Gym To Provide Healthy Food
On the question of healthy food not being served in a cinema hall, the bench replied that it is not a gym to provide healthy food. As long as it is hygienic, there is no problem eating it. Also, there is no compulsion to buy food from movie theatres. And if everyone is allowed to bring their own food, people will start to bring jalebis or tandoori chicken. And what if the people wipe their hands on the seats? Or chicken bones are found in the hall? To avoid these kinds of situations, management has to stop them from bringing outside food.

With these words, the Supreme Court passed the verdict in favour of the cinema hall owners.
