After A 32 Year-Long Interval, Cinema Halls Are Opening In Jammu & Kashmir

It’s a historic day for Jammu & Kashmir. After a 32-year-long interval, the valley welcomed cinema halls again. Unfavourable conditions caused by the rise of militancy shut down big screens in the region in the 1990s. But with its revival, residents flock to the theatres in Jammu & Kashmir again.

Jammu & Kashmir Inaugurates Cinema Halls

Two cinema halls in Kashmir’s Pulwama and Shopian districts were inaugurated by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on September 18. Office of LG Manoj Sinha took to Twitter to announce that it’s a historic day for J&K UT.  Photos show Sinha watching a movie with residents. The halls screened blockbusters RRR and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag as part of the inauguration.

Jammu & Kashmir’s cinema halls will not only screen movies. The multi-purpose halls shall also feature infotainment and skill development programmes. While movies will entertain the youth. These programmes will empower them. So, with the revival of the big screen in the valley, cinema halls are no longer a thing of the past for the J&K.

What Do Cinema Halls In Jammu & Kashmir Offer?

Moreover, INOX has specially designed the multiplex in Jammu & Kashmir. Traditional ‘khatamband’ and ‘paper mache’ are incorporated into the theatre’s designs. It showcases Kashmiri heritage at its best. The cinema halls feature recliner seats, silver screens, the latest sound systems and more. It guarantees an elevated movie-watching experience for residents. When it comes to food, moviegoers can grab a bite at the food court.
