Taiwan hot springs

Are you at the stage in your life when going out on weekends to clubs for drinks and non-stop dancing is not a vibe anymore? Instead, you look forward to appreciating blissful Saturdays and Sundays by basking in the glory of nature, hot springs, spas and other refreshing activities? This is exactly what Taiwan offers you! Taiwanese are choosing to spend their off days at hot springs. Those who don’t have access to hot springs should book a staycation at hotels with hot spring facilities! The urgency to soak in a luxurious hot spring is real!

Taiwan’s Hot Spring Culture Is Going Viral

Taiwan has some of the largest geothermal springs in the world. This is due to its geographical location in an active volcanic zone and a constant subterranean heat climate. It is noted that Japanese colonisers popularised the culture of a relaxing bath in Taiwan’s natural thermal springs.

The residents usually indulged in hot soaks for some leisure and rejuvenation. Gradually, the culture of hot springs expanded and is now viral. Nowadays, it is even more accessible in Taiwan, with man-made thermal baths in resorts. With the emerging concept of yì bó èr shí or ‘one stay, two meals’, Taiwanese head over to hot springs resorts after working Fridays.

There, they have long hot soaks, unwind, relish a tasty dinner and then get a good night’s sleep. The next morning, they enjoy another round of hot spring baths, have lunch and finally head home. This is becoming the new normal in this country.
