Ingredients:
- 1 cup masoor dal (soaked)
- Water, as required
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 8-10 beans, finely chopped
- 1 carrot, finely chopped
- 1-inch piece of ginger, finely chopped
- 4-5 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 2-3 green chillies, finely chopped
- 1 tsp. chaat masala
- 1 tsp. jeera powder
- 1/2 tsp. garam masala
- 1/2 tsp. aamchur powder
- Black salt, to taste
- 1-2 tsp. oil for cooking
Method:
- Start by adding the soaked masoor dal to a pressure cooker. Add salt and just enough water to cover the dal.
- Pressure cook the dal for 2 whistles. Once done, ensure the dal is fully cooked but not too wet.
- In a pan, heat oil over medium flame. Add the finely chopped ginger, garlic, and green chillies to the pan and sauté.
- Next, add the onions and cook until they begin to brown slightly.
- Toss in the chopped carrots and beans, sautéing for 2-3 minutes. Season with black salt and keep stirring.
- Add the cooked masoor dal to the pan with the vegetables. Mix well and cook for another 2 minutes.
- Now, sprinkle in the chaat masala, garam masala, jeera powder, and aamchur powder, stirring well. Let the mixture cool slightly.
- Once the mixture has cooled enough, shape it into small tikkis.
- Heat a little oil in a hot pan. Place the tikkis in the pan and cook them on both sides until they turn golden brown and crispy.
- Once done, remove the tikkis from the pan and serve them hot with a side of green chutney and some freshly sliced onions.
