We all know how the prices of tomatoes have suddenly surged up and are touching the sky. People are actually looking for recipes to cook without using this very essential vegetable in the kitchen. But amidst all this, chef Kunal Kapur came up with a different piece of advice. He asked all the netizens to concentrate on mangoes, as their season will be over soon, instead of tomatoes.

Chef Kunal Kapur is known to be very active on social media, as he keeps posting quick recipes and witty content too. The chef actually thought of advising people something amidst the chaos created by the tomato price hike. 

He asked people to concentrate on mangoes and eat them as their season is nearing an end. Kunal mentioned that the tomato price hike will surely get back to normal after two months. Hence, he asked netizens to leave tomatoes and their price hike behind and eat as much mango as they can before the season ends. 

Kunal posted this advice on his Instagram page with a picture of ripe yellow mangoes in the background. In the caption, he asked people what they would choose between the two.

Netizens Asked For Recipes

The post by chef Kunal Kapur has by far received over 11,000 likes from Netizens. While some netizens agreed with the chef, many asked Kunal to share recipes for dishes that can be cooked without tomatoes. 

Some of them also jokingly spoke about how tomatoes can replace mangoes in any recipe in the world. Others jokingly invented dishes by replacing the tomato’s name with mango, like Sev Amba no Saak instead of Sev Tamatar nu Saak, a delicacy in Gujarat. 

The prices of tomatoes are seeing a hike, with them being sold at ₹1690 per kg in markets across Mumbai. The prices are very similar across other parts of the country as well. 

With the sudden surge in price of this vegetable, the budgets of many households have taken a toss. People are considering cutting their consumption of this vegetable to avoid financial constraints.
