Telangana Food Safety Department officials conduct raids in shops, dairy units, restaurants, eateries, and more such places regularly. Just two days back, a team headed to Hyderabad to inspect two dairy units in Sultan Bazar and Rahat Nagar. What did they come across at these establishments? Let’s find out the important details here.
Telangana Food Safety Department Investigated Dairy Units In Hyderabad
Taking to the X platform, the Commissioner of Food Safety, Telangana (@cfs_telangana) shared necessary information about recent inspections.
On December 20, the Telangana Food Safety Department’s task force team raided Durga Dairy Products in Hyderabad. While inspecting this establishment in Sultan Bazar, the officials found expired food products. They discarded 500 ml of vanilla expired in October 2020 and lemon expired in December 2020. They also threw away expired lemon from May 2024.
The task force team saw food handlers were not wearing haircaps. There were no employee health records and FoSTaC certificates of food handlers. The doors of Durga Dairy Products were not fitted well enough to prevent pests from entering. The place’s ceilings were flaky in several locations. In addition, the flooring was patchy too. The team did not see any proper drains here.
Next, They Raided NR Milk House
The task force team inspected NR Milk House in Amberpet’s Rahat Nagar on Friday. They found plastic containers, waste bags, wooden logs, and more dirt dumped and disposed of on the floor. Inside the unit, manufacturing and storage methods were followed in an unhygienic environment. Food handlers were not wearing aprons, headgear, and shoe covers.
The team found people spitting in multiple places. The dairy unit could not provide pest control records, FoSTaC certificates and employee health records. Also, the internal structures had been built using iron sheets and those turned rusty. Lastly, there were cockroaches, house flies, and mosquitoes.
Worst of all, patchy and uneven flooring was found in water stagnation. The place smelled awful too. There was only one toilet opening directly into the manufacturing area. This had a contamination risk.
These are all details about the food safety department’s recent inspections in Hyderabad.
