Golf tourism may soon shine in Telangana! The government has now announced plans to build two new world-class golf courses to boost golf tourism and attract international tourists to the state. These plans were announced just recently, and here’s what we know about the locations so far.
Telangana Plans Two New Golf Courses To Boost Tourism
The Telangana government is planning a 130-acre golf course at Jawahar Nagar near Shamirpet and is also working on developing another world-class golf course at Somasila, along the Krishna River. According to The Times of India, these two projects in Telangana are aimed at introducing international-standard golfing facilities and attracting professional and amateur golfers from across the world. This, in turn, will boost golf tourism in the state.
The Somasila golf course will come up along a scenic stretch of the Krishna River. It will be surrounded by the Nallamala forests near the Amrabad Tiger Reserve. The beautiful natural setting offers an opportunity to create a distinctive golf tourism destination that combines sport, nature and tourism.

Somasila Golf Course To Come Up Near Scenic Krishna River
According to The Times of India, the proposed golf tourism infrastructure will be developed with private participation under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. Once everything goes as per plan, Somasila in Telangana will help to strengthen the state’s position as a major hub for golf players.
For those of you who don’t know, a golf course is a large outdoor facility designed with a series of holes (9 or 18) to play golf. This facility is usually amid nature, as the natural hills, trees and streams help dictate how players hit the ball and make every course unique. Plus, open green spaces, quiet surroundings and natural views can help lower stress. It clears the mind and makes the game more enjoyable.
