In the latest news, Hyderabad police have created a special team to stop food adulteration. This comes after many complaints about unsafe food items and eateries. Now, the Hyderabad Police have taken a step forward and appointed a new unit for anti-food adulteration. Read on to know more about this newly formed unit.

Hyderabad Police Appoints New Team To Stop Food Adulteration

The Hyderabad police have created a special team to stop food adulteration. This new anti-adulteration unit of Hyderabad will focus on controlling and checking the mixing of harmful or fake items in food products. According to the Hans India, N. Ranjith Kumar Goud has been assigned as the head of the unit. He was earlier appointed as an inspector in the task force of the Khairatabad zone. He has now received the Hyderabad police inspector appointment as the first officer to lead the Hyderabad Police anti-food adulteration wing. This special unit will now work under the Deputy Commissioner of Police.

After multiple complaints about unsafe food items like milk, tea powder, and ginger-garlic paste. This move is now a part of a larger food adulteration crackdown in Telangana. The major goal of this unit is to improve Hyderabad food safety enforcement and protect public health.

Talking to The Hindu, the official stated that coordination meetings are currently underway with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and the Food Safety Authority to work for the betterment of food safety. Additionally, other personnel, like constables and rank officials, will also be appointed shortly.

The new unit is said to focus on conducting joint inspections, working on adulteration networks with relevant agencies, and ensuring follow-up legal action against those found guilty. Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar planned this wing to strengthen food quality in Hyderabad.

What Is Food Adulteration?

For those who don’t know, food adulteration is the intentional or accidental act of reducing the quality of food by adding harmful substances or removing nutritious ingredients. As per the Knowledge Academy, this mixing is done for economic profit. Some adulterants include chemicals, artificial colours and non-food materials. Regular practice of this can lead to health risks such as food poisoning, allergies and long-term diseases.
