The fear of losing a job while staying away from your home country is always at its peak. Be it termination or resignation the second question that follows this doubt is “Where would I reside?” If you are caught in such a situation while staying in UAE, then we have some good news for you. What Is The Process?
Assume for the moment that you work for a mainland company in Dubai. The Cabinet Resolution No. 1 of 2022 on the Implementation of Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 for the Regulation of Employment Relations will see its terms put into action. After you are fired or quit, your manager must first terminate your work permit in accordance with UAE labour law. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MoHRE) regulations state that there are various steps you must take in order to revoke your work permit. The work permit cancellation procedure is vast and has to be followed by the employer of the organization. Only after completion of the process, one can cancel the residence visa of a terminated employee.

How Long Is The Grace Period For Residency In UAE Post Termination Or Resignation?
You have 60 days of grace after the cancellation of your resident permit in the UAE to remain there. You must leave the nation during this time or change your status as a resident. One can request that your new employer apply for a work permit and change your residency status before the grace period expires if you find a new job during that time. After your employer-sponsored resident visa cancels, you may also choose to obtain a visit visa or tourist visa in order to continue living in the UAE without leaving the country.
Even so, you should leave the UAE prior to the grace period expiring. In any case, if you are unable to do the above, living after the grace period may result in significant fines.
