Planning a trip to India from Thailand just got easier. Thai nationals can now apply for a 30-day e-Tourist visa for India without paying a visa fee, with the added benefit of double entry. The new facility is set to remain in place until December 31, 2027, or until further orders. Scroll on to know more about this.

What Does The New India Visa Rule For Thai Nationals Offer?

According to The Economic Times, the announcement was made by the Embassy of India in Bangkok, which said the Government of India will provide the 30-day e-Tourist visa to Thai nationals on a gratis basis.

Under the new arrangement, eligible Thai travellers can get:

  • 30-day e-Tourist visa
  • Double-entry facility
  • No visa fee
  • Validity of the arrangement until December 31, 2027, unless changed by a further government order

The double-entry provision means travellers can enter India twice during the validity of the visa, making the facility particularly useful for those planning to combine an India holiday with a trip to another destination.

How Can Thai Nationals Apply For The India E-Tourist Visa?

Thai travellers will still need to apply for the e-Tourist visa in advance. The application can be submitted through the official Indian e-Visa portal, under the specified 30-day e-Tourist visa category.

While the visa fee has been waived under this arrangement, travellers should check the official portal for the latest eligibility requirements and application guidelines before planning their trip.

Why Is India Offering A Free Visa To Thai Travellers?

The move is aimed at making travel between Thailand and India easier and comes as India continues efforts to strengthen tourism and people-to-people ties with Southeast Asian countries.

For Thai travellers looking to explore India’s diverse destinations, from its historic cities and cultural landmarks to its beaches, mountains and culinary experiences, the fee-free visa could make planning a holiday considerably simpler.
