There’s A Stunning New Expo2020 Lake In Dubai Now

Expo 2020 is just six months away and thankfully, the event has not been called off due to Coronavirus. Dubai is prepping in full swing to put up one hell of a show. After months of waiting, the Expo 2020 site has finally started taking some serious shape, with entry portals and pavilions finding their spots. And from what we’ve seen so far, Dubai is truly living up to its glitz and glamour. The Expo 2020 will boast a stunning one-of-its-kind architecture and the videos and pictures say it all. The latest we hear is that Expo 2020 will also feature the world’s largest 360-degree projection screen, Al Wasl Dome.

But, that’s not all! Expo 2020 will also boast The Lake of Expo, a stunning lake that resembles the Expo 2020 logo. The new site was made using a lake, trees and sand. A photo was recently shared by the Expo2020 team and it blew of mind away! Take a look

And if you’re wondering who the brain behind this creation is, maybe you need to wait until the event itself, as details are yet to be revealed. However, if you want to see it yourself, the lake is located at quite a distance from the Expo2020 site. Drive along the Al Maktoum International Airport, and you might be able to catch a bird’s eye view of the stunning new creation. Besides, the new site is also available on Google maps. Take a look.

What Else?

tFurther, the website reveals that the Expo2020 dome is made of 13.6 kilometres of steel, that’s 16 Burj Khalifas put together (precisely), weighs 2,544 tonnes, (the weight of 25 blue whales), and is almost as wide as two Airbus A380 aircraft. The dome is located in Al Wasl Plaza, connecting the three main districts of Expo 2020.

The Al Wasl Plaza will convert into the centre stage of the grand expo. The opening and closing ceremonies of the event will also take place here. All the ideas and demonstrations are said to tie the theme of the Expo- “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future.”In April 2017, residents were given a glimpse of the Al Wasl Plaza. The plaza will feature a 65-metre tall dome and can hold up to 10,000 visitors. It also has a 360-degree screen, which will project images to visitors inside and outside the venue.  Furthermore, each participating country will have a separate pavilion and there will also be individual pavilions for main themes – sustainability, mobility and opportunity. The UAE pavilion, designed by Santiago Calatrava is constructed in the shape of a falcon.
