1. Madhya Pradesh

With 95,221 square kilometres of land covered in dense forest, Madhya Pradesh is an Indian state with the largest forest. This vast forest offers sightings of tigers and other wildlife and is mainly a part of Kanha National Park and Bandhavgarh National Park.

2. Arunachal Pradesh

The forest in Arunachal Pradesh spreads over 67,248 square kilometres, making the state having the second-largest forest cover in the country. The dense forest is part of Pakhui Wildlife Sanctuary and Namdapha National Park. With 80% of the state covered in green, it also has some stunning waterfalls.

3. Chhattisgarh

Chhattisgarh has 55,547 square kilometres of its area covered in forests, making it the third largest forest-covered state in India. Kanger Ghati National Park and Indravati National Park cover most of this vast forested area and are famous tourist destinations.

4. Odisha

Spread across 51,345 square kilometres, the forest in Odisha is considered to be the fourth largest in the country. This state is also taking steps towards increasing its contribution to the national forest cover.

5. Maharashtra

The forest cover in Maharashtra has been increasing perpetually. The Pench Tiger Reserve and Tabosa Andhari Tiger Reserve are home to tigers and other wildlife. These reserves cover most of the 50,628 square kilometres of forested area in Maharashtra. This makes it the fifth-largest forested state in India.

6. Karnataka

Karnataka, the sixth-largest state in India with a forest cover of 38,720 square kilometres, has a beautiful forest cover filled with beautiful mangroves. Most of this exotic forest is part of Nagarhole National Park and Bandipur National Park.

7. Andhra Pradesh

Ranking seventh in the list of states with the largest forest cover in India, 36,475 square kilometres of Andhra Pradesh are densely forested. The Eastern Ghats Forest is also one of the main highlights of this state.
