You all must have heard or read about various national parks in India, typically the large ones. But do you know which is India’s smallest national park? It is South Button Island National Park in Andaman and Nicobar islands. It is spread across 5 sq kilometres and is only 24 kilometres away from Havelock island. Visit India’s Smallest National Park

South Button Island National Park is the smallest national park in India and is located to the southwest of Havelock island. This beautiful islet (a very small island) is a part of the Rani Jhansi Marine National Park. 

It is blessed with a rich marine life, shallow depths and healthy coral population, which makes it popular for scuba diving and snorkelling. The shallow water with coral reefs offers high visibility, making it one of the main attractions. They are as shallow as 6 feet. 

If it’s your lucky day, Barracuda, Sweetlips, Angelfish, Turtles,Manta Rays, Devil Rays, Butterflyfish, Groupers, Trevally and Snappers. You can also spot beautiful white-bellied Sea Eagles. It is the perfect spot for all the adventure junkies and nature lovers for sure!

Experience An Exotic Wildlife

If exotic aquatic life is on your mind, walk straight to South Button Island National Park. The animals that you can easily spot here are dugongs, water lizards, dolphins, blue whales, sea turtles, octopuses and shrimps. The island is also known as a breeding ground for sea turtles and the Andaman grey rumped swiftlet. 

You can also spot a few terrestrial animals. Dinochloa andamanica, Calamus palustris, Parishia insignis, etc. are some of the plant species found here. The place has rocky outcrops but tourists are not allowed to climb them. 

The thriving biodiversity, white sandy beach, notable population of marine life, unexploited coral reefs, adventurous experiences, etc. are the reasons why you must at least once visit this amazing place!
