Here’s how you can prepare Elle’s Cherry Blossom Crystal Dumplings at home in a jiffy!

Ingredients

  • 150g wheat starch
  • 100g arrowroot powder
  • 200g boiling hot water
  • 3 beetroot slices
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 zucchini
  • 1 scallion
  • 3-4 dried wood ear mushroom
  • 170g  silken tofu
  • 170g extra firm tofu
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1/4 tsp Kala namak (black salt)

Method

To make these pink beauties, first, boil the beetroot slices to extract the pink-coloured extract. To make the dumpling dough, mix the wheat starch, and arrowroot powder with hot water and the beetroot extract. Knead this pink-coloured dough well and let it rest.

For the filling, soak the dried wood mushrooms in hot water to soften. Then, grate the carrot and zucchini. Chop the scallion and softened wood ear mushrooms. In a pot, add the silken tofu and the extra firm tofu and toss them together with turmeric and garlic powder.

Squeeze any excess water out of the grated veggies. Then, combine the grated veggies and the spiced tofu to make the filling. Pour soy sauce and mix the filling together. Shape the dough into little flowers as shown in the reel (it would require some practice).
