The state of Jharkhand is known for its natural beauty, as it is blessed with forests and mesmerising waterfalls. Tourists from across India flock to this destination to witness the beauty of cascading waterfalls in the state. This year again, ahead of the festive season, these famous waterfalls are witnessing a huge tourist inflow.
Famous Waterfalls Of Jharkhand
Ahead of the holiday season, the popular Jharkhand waterfalls Hundru, Jonha, Lodh, Dassam, Sita, Panchghag, and Hirni are thronged by tourists.
According to a tourism official, the waterfalls, which are well-known for their breathtaking natural beauty and the way the water cascades down from great heights, have become a key draw for visitors coming from all over the state and the rest of the country, primarily West Bengal.
According to Rajkishore Prasad, head of the Jharkhand Paryatan Suraksha Samiti (JPSS), 10,000 tourists from various regions of Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Bihar visit the seven falls of Hundru, Jonha, Lodh, Dassam, Sita, Panchghag, and Hirni on average each day.
The Jharkhand Tourism Development Corporation’s (JTDC) JPSS division oversees and cares for the state’s important waterfalls. The JPSS employs up to 110 “Prayatak Mitra” (Tourist’s Friend) in the water bodies. He stated that the influx of visitors would last until February 2024. (as per Hindustan Times)

Facilities Are Added Every Year
Despite an increase in tourists since the state’s founding in November 2000, analysts report that Jharkhand still receives a small number of visitors who are primarily devoted to visiting religious sites.
Just 4.53 lakh tourists, including 3,111 international visitors, visited Jharkhand in 2000, the year it was created. According to a tourism official, the amount is currently somewhere between ₹3.60 crore annually.
However, visitors to scenic locations frequently lament the absence of restrooms, safe roads, lodging options, and signage.
Facilities are occasionally added to the tourist attraction, according to JTDC general manager Alok Prasad, who spoke to PTI. To give tourists access to clean water, we’ll shortly deploy water ATMs everywhere. A lodging facility had been built near Hundru Fall, according to Prasad, but few tourists used it.
Several promotional programs are scheduled at regular intervals in an effort to draw tourists to Jharkhand, he said. This year’s events include the Patratu Lake Festival and the Netarhat Monsoon Retreat Festival. From January 1 through January 15 of the next year, Waterfall will host a few events as well.
