For the first time in the history of airlines, economy and premium economy passengers will get to lie down and take a nap in a comfortable fully flat bed. And surprisingly they do not have to burn a hole in their pockets by purchasing expensive tickets for business classes. ‘Air New Zealand’ is the airline that is working to launch this innovation soon. They are soon initiating these bunk beds in economy-class cabins.
Air New Zealand Is Working On This For 5 Years
It has been quite a few years since the Kiwi airline is conceptualising and developing this new exciting feature of SkyNest pods. It will still take some extra years to launch these sleeping pods for the economy and premium passengers. Air New Zealand recently announced that it will come to action in 2024 on 8 models of Dreamliner aircraft. It will surely be a boosting step for the airline and how they are changing the concept of travelling in economy-class cabins.

Economy Passengers Can Now Sleep During Long Journeys In Air New Zealand
There are some specific criteria to avail of these bunk beds for the economy and premium passengers. They might not have to pay a humongous amount like the business class but still, they need to pay an extra charge for accessing the SkyNests. For long journeys, they can book these sleeping pods for 4-hour increments. As per Air New Zealand, they will let flyers enjoy 2 sleeping cycles of 90 minutes each. The extra time is for waking up and unwinding. In a time limit of 30 minutes, the crew will sanitise the area and change the bedding. Every flight will feature 6 fully flat beds with curtains, bedding arrangements, and everything for a good relaxing sleep.
The cost and the booking process of the SkyNest fully flat beds have not been announced yet. The airline is still working on fixing a specific price tag to avail of this feature.
