Free Rides In Driverless Taxis This Eid Al Adha

This service was first made available as a trial on Yas Island in November 2021. It guarantees a special journey with the highest levels of security and safety. The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) launched this service in 2021 and has since made sure it runs smoothly.

A group of TXAIs provided free, driverless transportation throughout the trials between predetermined places on Yas Island. A smartphone app allowed users to hail the vehicles, and certified safety officers were present on every journey.

Smart Mobility Project

The ITC’s Smart Mobility Project, part of a larger effort to improve the efficiency and ecological effects of how we get around town, incorporates the buses as part of its goal to reinvent transport, starting on Yas and Saadiyat before spreading to the rest of Abu Dhabi and the world.

The Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT), which oversees transportation in the emirate, and Miral, worked together to launch the autonomous taxis. It is an investment and real estate company based in Abu Dhabi. WeRide, a developer of Level 4 autonomous driving technologies, offered software and hardware solutions for vehicles.

Five autonomous electric and hybrid taxis began their inaugural trial run on Yas Island with a routing that included nine stops. In the second stage of the project, more than 10 vehicles will be used to increase passenger transport operations around Abu Dhabi. To assist in minimizing carbon emissions, the whole current TXAI vehicle fleet is made up of electric and hybrid vehicles.

Moreover, it was disclosed that Bayanat, one of the project’s participants, had finished mapping “the entire UAE” in collaboration with the ITC and G42.

Through the TXAI app, accessible on Google Play and the iOS App Store, passengers can request a cab at any time.
