Gujarat is known all around India for an impressive section of residents inclining towards doing business and working on their brands. It is now home to the richest village in Asia and the village is the iconic Madhapur in the Kutch district. Gone are those days when growth in infrastructure, entrepreneurial journeys, and modernity were centred in cities only. This city broke all such myths and embraced the new advancements, presented its potential, and clinched the title of being Asia’s richest village.

According to a report by Livemint, the village is home to about 32,000 residents. They hold overall fixed deposits worth ₹7,000 crore showing the kind of wealth they have. The Patel community mostly resides in Asia’s richest village.

Interestingly, NRIs (non-resident Indians) have a role to play in this humongous prosperity. A huge section of Madhapur’s population consists of NRIs. These people deposit their money in large amounts in the local banks and post offices operating here.

Money that they deposit in these places is in rupees currency and worth crores, according to several reports. This village on the outskirts of Bhuj is home to NRIs from Australia, the United Kingdom, the United States, and other renowned countries. While there are nearly 20,000 houses in this village, around 1,200 families live in foreign countries.
