Diljit Dosanjh Used His First Pay Cheque To…

Kamiya asked our guests if they remembered their first pay cheque, at what age did they earn it and how they spent it. Dijit shared that his first earnings were from a singing performance at a birthday party. This was a contractual gig at the age of 18 years and he was paid around ₹3000. Our hearts melted a little when he shared how he spent that money.

He gifted a bicycle to an uncle in the neighbourhood who was mentally disturbed and lived alone. Diljit had promised to buy him a bicycle with his first salary. So, one-third of  ₹3000 was spent on a bicycle and the rest was donated to Gurudwara Sahib when he went to pay his respects.

He smiled and summed it up by saying that he didn’t save his first salary or buy anything for himself. The answer is just a reflection of how humble Diljit is as a human being!

Now, it was Neeru’s turn to reveal her first salary. She told us that she worked as a saleswoman at a mall. While Diljit kept his promise of a bicycle, she treated her family members, especially her dad, mom and grandmother, to a restaurant for a scrumptious meal. She laughed and said that she instructed everyone to dine and drink whatever they wanted to and ended up spending her entire salary.

Kamiya wanted to know how old Neeru was and how much she was paid. Our guest revealed that she was sixteen and she was paid by the hourly minimum wage rates. While she didn’t exactly remember the exact amount, she guessed that it was around $5 to $6 per hour. She fondly recalled her family enjoying some shopping and food.
