On a recent episode of Sunday Brunch, we met the talented and graceful Shefali Shah for a hearty meal filled with delicious seafood delicacies at Mumbai’s famous Gajalee restaurant. She joined our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, for a brunch that was not just about food but also a deep dive into her life—her journey to becoming an actress, her erratic diet choices, solo travel stories, and so much more. Shefali Shah even shared the advice she would give to her younger self. Read on to learn all about it.
Shefali Shah Has Amazing Advice For Her 20-Year-Old Self
While indulging in this seafood feast, we got a chance to know Shefali Shah beyond the screen—as a woman and a mother of two sons. We were curious to know if there was a particular value she had tried to instill in them. She revealed that ever since they were around 10 and 11 years old, she has always told them to be extremely respectful towards women. In fact, she candidly added that if she ever found out they hurt a woman, she would “physically badger them.”
While she’s unsure of the effect this had, she likes to believe it worked. She proudly shared that whenever her sons go out with friends—whether for an activity or a party—they always feel a sense of responsibility for the women in the group, making sure they feel protected and safe.
During the chat, we also asked Shefali Shah: if she could go back and give one piece of advice to her 20-year-old self, what would it be? She instantly replied, “Don’t be in a hurry to get married. Take your time and live life to the fullest. Take risks. What’s the worst that could happen? You fail—but that’s okay too.”

She Loves Travelling Solo
Talking about her love for travel, Shefali revealed that her first solo trip actually happened by accident. Her family was trying to plan a vacation together, but for some reason, it just wasn’t coming together. Eventually, she decided to go ahead on her own. So, she went to Rishikesh and stayed at a riverside resort. What started as a solo trip out of necessity turned out to be a beautiful experience she now cherishes deeply. She did exactly what she wanted—rafting, attending the Ganga Aarti, or simply sitting idly by the river, sipping her coffee. It was a trip completely on her terms.
In this episode of Sunday Brunch, Shefali Shah also opened up about how she decides which roles to take on. Watch the full video on the Curly Tales YouTube channel to catch the entire conversation.
