Sohum Shah Gave Some Amazing Food Recommendations For Ganganagar

Speaking fondly about his hometown, Ganganagar in Rajasthan, Sohum shared that while the town is technically part of Rajasthan, its cultural influences are deeply rooted in the neighbouring state of Punjab. Although he now resides in Mumbai, he visits his hometown often, at least once a year for Diwali. Over the years, there was only one Diwali he didn’t celebrate at home, which made his mother very upset.

Curious to know more about the city, we asked Sohum about the first thing he eats every time he visits. His eyes lit up as he spoke about Ganganagar’s famous dishes. He revealed that the first thing he eats upon arrival is Chole Kulche. While Chole Kulche in Punjab and Delhi have their distinct flavours, the Ganganagar version is unique. Here, the chole are mixed with bits of kachori, lemon juice, and chillies, and then enjoyed with kulche. This is also his family’s favourite!

Next, Sohum shared that Ganganagar is also famous for its delicious Chole Bhature. While they are usually enjoyed piping hot, he made a surprising revelation. According to him, the best way to enjoy them is when they’ve gone cold. He explained that whenever he visits, he sends someone from his office to pick up Chole Bhature from Saini Chole Bhature Wala. By the time they reach him, they’ve cooled down, and that’s how he believes they are best enjoyed. He also added that samosas from Amrit and Rewari ki Barfi are must-try treats in Ganganagar.
