While discussing films, we noted that she has explored a wide range of genres like romance, comedy, and murder mystery, but has she ever done a horror film? Not really. So, we asked her why. Read on to know the reason.

Why Kajol Never Did Horror Films?

Kajol’s recent release, Maa, is a mythological horror film, marking her first-ever entry into the horror genre after so many years in the industry. When asked why she hadn’t done horror films before, she replied, ‘’I have not done it because it did not have the best script. And for me, it matters, the director matters, how you put everything together matters.’’ She also gave us a glimpse into her role in the film. Kajol plays a character named Ambika, a mother who, under any circumstances, must protect her child at all costs. She shared, “You may not believe in a lot of other things, but you do believe in your ability to protect your child.” Kajol added that whenever she plays the role of a mother, there’s never any doubt in her mind; she feels confident and believes it always turns out to be one of her best performances.

She Shared Her Childhood Memories During Durga Puja

Kajol has been a devoted follower of Goddess Durga since childhood. She shared that she’s been attending Durga Puja celebrations since she was just two years old, always accompanying her father. Recalling fond childhood memories, she said, “I would pick up that little begun bhaja and serve it on banana leaves. We were only trusted with rasgullas and begun bhajas, not with khichdi or chutney. That was left to the adults.” She added that the older kids were given the big utensils, while the little ones picked out the rasgullas and served them. Back then, the puja was an intimate celebration among friends and family, but over the years, it has turned into a grand spectacle.
