A study was published in the journal Nutrients by researchers at the Illinois Institute of Technology. This study delved deep into how consuming fresh mangoes can affect inflammation and insulin sensitivity in obese and overweight adults having low-grade chronic inflammation. This study linked the sweet, sugary juicy summer fruit to lower insulin resistance which is a determining factor in preventing diabetes.

They compared consuming mangoes to having the same calorie content as Italian ice. This is a frozen, sweetened icy dessert like sorbet. The study was conducted on 48 people between the age group of 20-26 years. Apart from consuming an allotted amount of mango, which is two pre-portioned cups filled with mango pieces, per day, they were also directed to continue this regular diet and lifestyle.
