Patrons lined up for a private, pandemic-safe tasting menu — all while spinning around the country’s biggest city. Well, the experience is certainly not cheap as a meal here would cost you 48,000 forints (around $155 USD) per person. The ticket includes an elegant four-course meal and, of course, a spin around the wheel.
Karoly Gerendai, the restaurant’s owner said that the idea came when one of his restaurants had dropped to one-tenth of its pre-lockdown turn over. Meanwhile, Budapest also witnessed a considerable drop in tourists. “Now that there are not many people either on the wheel or in the restaurant because there are no tourists, the opportunity arose that we could do this,” Gerendai said.
The Ferris wheel is ideal as the cabins are separate cabins and solves the issue of social distancing. Costes hopes to bring back the dining expire once next year too, once the weather gets a little warmer.
