This US City Is Expecting To Welcome Over 3 Lakh Indian Tourists In 2023

Interestingly, according to the latest reports, New York City expects to welcome 3.06 lakh Indian tourists by the end of the year, 2023. Here’s more to it.

According to a report by Deccan Herald, the EVP-Global Communications, New York City Tourism and Conventions, Tiffany Townsend, threw light on the number of Indian tourists visiting India. She revealed that New York City is gearing up to welcome 3.067 lakh Indian travellers by the end of 2023.

Townsend revealed Deccan Herald, that the fast-paced tourism rebound will help in the economic recovery of New York City. The city has supported around 3.4 lakh jobs in the leisure and hospitality sector. When it comes to international tourists, New York City hopes to welcome 1.14 crore of tourists from across the globe this year. This includes the 3.06 lakh from India.

In 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic, India welcomed 1.35 crore international travellers with 3.36 lakh hailing from India. Tiffany Townsend states that India will always be a crucial market for inbound travel in New York City. So, what do Indian tourists like to do when in New York? She says that Indian tourists are the 4th highest spenders in the international market. They alone spend a whopping ₹5798 crores in the American city.

Here’s What Indians Like To Spend On In NYC

Tiffany Townsend states that Indian tourists mostly spend on hotel accommodations, dining, shopping and other activities in New York. Apparently, tourists from India like to spend their income on entertainment like music concerts, art galleries, iconic landmarks, comedy clubs, museums and even Broadway shows.
